The University of Indianapolis invites applications for a non-tenure-track Field Coordinator to coordinate the Phylis Lan Lin Program in Social Work's field program, a one-year visiting faculty position.

The field coordinator oversees all aspects of the BSW Field Program, including screening and working with field supervisors, arranging appropriate placements for students, and teaching field education seminars. Additional responsibilities include serving as field liaison and traveling to various sites, teaching, student advising, service-learning activities, department and community service, research, and scholarship.

Qualifications include an MSW from a CSWE-accredited school with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of post-MSW social work practice experience. Licensure (LMSW/LCSW) preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated experience in directing and coordinating field practica and who possess the ability to interface well with practitioners, agencies, community representatives, students, faculty, and staff. Additional practice experience beyond the minimum, previous teaching experience, and excellent mentoring skills are highly desirable. Computer/technology expertise, strong organizational skills, and familiarity and connections to local area social services agencies are highly preferred.

A year-round field program requires Field Coordinator responsibilities during the fall, spring, and summer terms. Responsibilities for this 10-month appointment are disbursed over 11 months, with reduced load during fall and spring to compensate for summer.

Currently seeking a successful candidate with supervisory experience in a healthcare setting that has knowledge and leadership ability to assist in running the financial eligibility services area.  Must be knowledgeable to work with case management and social work staff to ensure all patients are screened for an appropriate payer source for their hospitalization and continuum of care.  Ensures timely follow-up/monitoring of all accounts to ensure time frames are maintained according to statutes.  Audits financial eligibility staff's work for quality and productivity standards.  Contacts outside agencies to assist with completion of requirements for approval of payable programs.

-3 to 5 years in a patient accounting environment could be substituted for educational requirement.

QUALIFICATIONS

1.      Demonstrates knowledge of Federal, state, local and ACHC regulations.

Job Description

As a Navy Social Worker, assist military personnel in resolving personal and family issues. Provide counseling services for Active Duty and retired military personnel and their respective families. Offer crisis intervention and mental health therapy in areas ranging from physical illness and disease to family issues and traumatic experiences. And help maintain a proactive social work community.

You could also:

• Conduct awareness workshops and lead conflict-resolution training
• Serve in a variety of locations, including Medical Treatment Facilities (MTF), Major Military Medical Centers, and Fleet and Family Support Centers throughout the world
• Pursue advanced education, such as a Ph.D. or doctorate of social work, as well as post-master’s clinical fellowships
• Perform duties at Marine Corps Community Services and Counseling Centers

Specific Requirements

• Master of social work (MSW) from a graduate school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
• Minimum of two years’ full-time supervised clinical social work experience (post-master’s degree)
• Current licensure/certification as a clinical social worker by the jurisdiction where practicing; licensure/certification must allow the social worker to practice independently

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in mental health (inpatient and outpatient) with knowledge and skills in: diagnosis, evaluation and treatment; medical social work, case management and discharge planning; family violence, including child and spousal abuse; and developmental delays in children
• Supervisory program management or other leadership experience
• Knowledge, skill and comfort in working with diverse populations from various cultural backgrounds
