Meet Downtown Evansville Firefly, Old National Bank Building at 11:45 a.m. for lunch Friday November 20, 2009
Greetings from your Region 8 NASW Representative,
Marie Opatrny and I attended the first monthly Region 8 social workers meeting at the Firefly Downtown, in the Old National Bank Building. Two colleagues sat at a table nearby and we did not recognize one another! I’ll be pestering everyone at nearby tables on Friday, November 20, to track down other social workers!
So, the main point of this email is to let you know that Region 8 social workers will be meeting on the THIRD FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH AT THE DOWNTOWN FIREFLY (OLD NATIONAL BANK BUILDING AT THE CORNER OF RIVERSIDE AND MAIN) for lunch.
All social workers are welcome – members of NASW or not! The purpose of the meeting is to lunch (cafeteria style, low cost, good food), visit, keep up to date with state and regional issues and find out what NASWIN and the Region can do for is members and potential members. The next meeting is Friday, November 20, at 11:45 a.m. The December meeting is on Friday the 18thm same time, same location. No need to make a reservation. Just show up and look for social workers!
If you have any questions, let me know: Martha Raske at 465-1147 or mraske@usi.edu
Dear Region 8 Social Work Colleagues,
If you are not already, a member of NASW I am writing to urge you to join.
If you are a member, I urge you to seek out a colleague and encourage membership.
Why join the National Association of Social Workers (NASW)?
Because social workers advocate for clients and NASW advocates for social workers!
NASW is transformed into a vital 21st century professional organization.
Today, MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS INCLUDE….
1. A strong voice for social workers and their clients at the state and national levels; keeping up with threats to current benefits and fighting for new
services for our clients and adequate salary for professional social workers.
2. Job postings, blogs and chat rooms on a variety of topics keeping you up to date and connected with other social workers across the country
and in your state. This is a new feature that many of you will find enjoyable and stimulating.
3. Continuing education opportunities both national and regional, as well as access to WebEd courses that include free CEU’s. Free CEU’s? You can’t beat that.
4. Access to free clinical, ethical, career and practice consultation & access to professional liability insurance. We are fortunate to have a very
responsive Indiana Chapter office. The staff are happy to help in any way possible.
5. Many discounts (hotels, car rental, phone services), and others too numerous to list. See the Website for more.
